The Golden Legend of Jacopo de Varazze was for centuries the fundamental narrative repertory for all artists who, both on commission and for direct inspiration, wished to represent the saints and their lives and works in superb masterpieces of the history of art. The Biblioteca Estense of Modena contains a rich collection of illuminated manuscripts of the religious genre that, carefully chosen, provide the possibility of going back over the hagiographic itinerary of the original legend. The book is set in the context of the year 2000 Jubilee celebrations as a precious historical and artistic document. It is accompanied by over 200 illuminations, reproduced with the customary high quality of our collection.
